With that being said... I was bored and I noticed a pervading sense of irony as I saw the list of support stamps next to Ryuu's journal (I was doing research on the unoriginality of some of his characters, at the time).
I think Original Characters would get more appreciation from folk like me if they were more original...
Admittedly, there isn't a whole lot that's original with "Ryuu's a copy of Link, but then the Goddesses MADE HIM BETTER and TURNED HIM INTO A GOD-ANGEL."
Well, when you dress your character in outfits based off or directly copied from other designs, how is that even possible?
That's even ignoring the times you make characters that look like other characters. And fully state that you do, to the extent that it is a part of your character sheets. (See: Character Sheet Template)
No, seriously, you lose all right to bitch about this when your character descriptions ever include anything like "Looks like X character, but..." and then a list of minute changes (like right-handed, instead of left-handed).
Ryuu's characters are based on other characters. As such, they should be compared to said characters.

When I first played Ocarina of Time, Young Link instantly inspired me. I instantly began to see potential for a new OC.
[...]
And the only difference in comparison with Link he had was the X-Men type suit he had.
[...]
He still was a Link recolor, just wearing red clothes. Ryo's hair got a bit longer and more fire-like, but any real differences were left to be desired.
I don't think I need to go on. Ryuu's terrible creation history will be covered fully, later.
Rest assured, Ryuu (as I'm sure you will be very pissy after reading this), you don't need my approval. However, I can still poke fun and criticize your unoriginal characters all I want.

And if he does bitch about the blog, that last stamp applies to us, too. We don't need his approval to point out his gross inconsistencies.
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty much going to reiterate what I said earlier: Who the fuck does he think he is, and just who does he think he's kidding? It's like the ultimate example of "Do as I say, not as I do."
I the great Dr. (_____) hereby agree with my dear pal rinku! we're rebels without a cause baby, you cannot silence the truth!
ReplyDeleteExcept with a cause...
And were not really rebels...
We've got the truth though, and a distinct lack of stamps to do our talking for us!
